Wear the Game. Be the change.
We upcycle unused football shirts into fashion-forwards items. Unique and handmade by talented refugees.
100% of profits go to our football academy in Ghana, raising new football stars and providing learning opportunities for underpriviledged children.
Pretty cool, right?
Check out what we made!
So... how do we do it?
Refugees making awesome items
Refugees upcycle unused shirts to fashion items. Making our customers happy and providing football clubs with a story to be proud of.
Underpriviledged kids chasing their dreams
The proceeds enable Ghanaian kids to play football. We help them train to become shooting stars. And to be lifted out of poverty.
And learning to become allround winners
We also provide the kids with play-based learning facilities to become allround winners, not just on the field.
Syrian Refugees in Holland
Providing purpose, independence and cultural integration
The immigration process in The Netherlands can take up to two years. Just imagine having to wait day-in day- out, without clear direction or purpose. People like me and you. Oftentimes these refugees were working in successful workplaces in their country of origin, like Syria.
We now provide these skilled people with an opportunity to do what they love, making a fair salary and feel seen again. Working at our Atelier in Amsterdam, they also learn more about Dutch culture. A true win-win-win! AND…at the same time time we invite Dutch primary school classes to visit our Workplace. The football shirt of the kids’ favourite team is a great carrier to explain the consequences of fast-fashion and the importance of upcycling.
Ghanese kids doing what they love
Building confidence, learning skills and creating hope
Football is immensly popular in Ghana and even the kids in Budubaram, a Liberian refugee camp just outside the capital Accra, dream of playing in the Champions League one day. Working together with the LAMSA soccer academy, we select, train and feed the most promising talents in West Ghana. In total we provide for 95 boys and girls, divided over the Under-13, Under-15, Under-17 and Girls teams, playing in the Ghana national football league.
Using all proceeds of the fashion items sold, we fund our soccer academy. With our academy we provide the kids with a daily routine and structure (after their lessons at our school, see ‘Learn’) in their otherwise un-structured lives in the refugee camp. Above all, we give each of them a dream and purpose – something they are super passionate and dedicated about, as they see this as their opportunity to transcend their refugee life. And yes, as the level is genuinely very high, we do (hope?) some of our players move to become professional football players in national leagues in Europe or America, potentially lifting their entire family out of poverty.
Teaching Kids in Ghana
Learning to become independent and strong individuals
The Liberian refugee children in Budubaram face a serious lack of educational opportunities - crucial education to eventually get them out of the 'cycle of poverty'. Not only do they lack basic Physical education (HIV/ Aids, Malaria, sanitation), but also Mental education (yourself, working in a team) and Financial education (spending and savings)
Using all proceeds of the fashion items sold, we fund our primary school in Budubaram. The school provides daily classes from 9-15h, ensuring the kids are empowered with the tools to live happy and healthy lives through our innovative health education programmes. We train our youth leaders to deliver Physical, Mental and Financial health education directly to the youngsters in our local communities. Utilizing our play-based learning methodology, education is delivered through sports coaching and is proven to positively impact the knowledge, behaviour and attitudes of those accessing the programme. For example, participants are more than three times more likely to seek support when needed.
